Where do I use Keywords and Keyword phrases?

It is now my understanding that much of what I've been doing SEO-wise is wrong or misplaced.

So I ask the question that I searched for in the Title on V7N.

Where do I use Keywords and Keyword phrases?

I know that it's not great value to use them in Meta Tags.

So I can use them in the BODY of what the USER sees.
Also, in the TITLE. It is my understanding that Google and other Engines use these.

What other places can I use Keywords?

I am right there with you - wrong or misplaced seo. The combined expertise of people taking the time to post and share is great.

Back to your question... other places to include key words is, as I understand, is in alt tags for images, in the page url, in the meta description, and h1 and h2 tags.

Does the "Page URL" include the sub-directory or just the file name?

Good start. Images have an alt attribute, not tag though.

The headings on your page.

Back to the original question, everywhere Google mentions in their SEO Beginner Guide. (opens PDF)

Headings?

The <head> on the source file for this page [V7N] is blank? I view the source code and I don't see any h1 or h2 tags on this page [V7N].

Headings are within the content of your pages.

Quote:
In web page coding there are heading tags H1 through H6 available to format the headings in the web page. H1 is the largest, H6 is the smallest. Just like an article printed on a piece of paper, the default size of the heading represents the importance of the heading. These sets of HTML tags are meant to define headings in the page, not to format just any text on the page.

That's the only place you advise your clients to use keywords/keyword phrases?

Is it profitable to pyramid your keywords in your URL to make it easier for Google to parse your keyword phrases such that the User can see the topic is on point to the search?

For Example:

www.bakery.com/fresh_baked_goods/baked_pastries_and_cakes.html

I know this isn't the best example, but my point was to have a lengthy URL so that Google shows the keywords and phrases in the SERP?

As do a lot of other people on this forum. Myself included. Part of being on a forum is sharing your knowledge. It's how people learn how much you know about your job if they are looking for someone to hire.

It's called the image alt attribute, not alt tag.

If you put your keywords/phrases in all the other places you mentioned, why not in the content for sure? Your approach looks spammy to me.

for SEO purpose there are three places where we can use keywords.

1. Title Tag Where we can use keywords
2. Description Tags
3. Page Content - this is the great place where we can put keywords on content according to SEO guide line for page content.

Thanks
