Yeah Forum posting is an effective way to get backlinks, but it's not sufficient to get first page ranking on Google. You need to take more efforts like, social bookmarking, niche directory submission, blog commenting, guest blogging and off course SMO.

i don't know forum posting has any SEO effect or not. but i get good quality traffic from forum posting. i launched my first website couple of months back and submitted my site to review in 4/5 forums and got good traffic and still i receive traffic from those links...using signature in 2/3 forums and getting good and fresh traffic from those signature....

for me forum posting is one of the best strategy to get quality traffic....

That is a wise strategy Obosh

Although Google have stated there is benefit in posting on forums and becoming an expert in your field of expertise, you would never be able to get a gauge on 'how much' benefit.

The other topic seldom covered revolves around the subject of change. Search engines don't sit still to that end it's unwise to state anything is factual.

The problem with forum posts is they often lack analytical proof, I carried these processes and this is the proof (data)

First, make sure that you're not spamming the boards. Then, make sure that you're keeping your efforts to maintain the quality, relevancy of your contribution. Next, try to participate in as many forum website possible, because more number of backlinks from single domain is not good as more number of links from multiple domain names.

Does anyone have any analytical proof

Maybe a site that is ranked highly for competitive terms, just off the back of forum posting

Mega mind

I have generated good search engine positioning (for competitive terms) by doing none of the things you list.

I think directory submission, blog commenting and article submission are certainly old hat when it comes to building a solid search engine positioning.

Yes it is effective if you do it in a right way. Which means do not try to spam in the forum. But alone this technique is not able to rank your website to the top ranking position..

It is effective but not sufficient for high ranking. Other method should be used.

Blog commenting is also works well.
But never spam.

Comment only when you read the article completely and then leave appropriate & useful reviews.

It should be encourageable for the blogger.

I found some people doesn't comment but leaves their links unnecessarily.

Keep smiling.
