Lightbulb How to check your own backlinks and your competitors backlinks

I have noticed that lots of people are looking for services where they can check the number of backlinks they have, but several of these websites dont seem to deliver or they give huge variations in the numbers.

I have tried and tested several services for a long period and here is my top list:

https://ahrefs.com/
http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/
https://www.majesticseo.com/

All these services have a free and a paid version. The free version is naturally limited but will give you a good idea of how many backlinks you actually have in addition to for instance the number of no follow vs do follow links.

opensiteexplorer also has an easy interface for comparing your backlinks to a few competitors.

Google search has never been very reliable when it comes to showing backlinks. Google webmaster tools is probably a much better resource, but they still wont show your competitors backlinks.

Tried all of these. Not finding any of them accurate. Google actually shows more incoming links (as accurate as they care to make it).

been using majestic seo and opensite explorer for so many years now and it's effective though opensite needs a registration otherwise it's session will expires.

SEOlytics is another tool I use alongside ahrefs. Free versions of these tools provide enough data to see how your website is doing online as well as your competitors'.

I prefer Majestic SEO and Google Web Master Tools. Opensiteexplorer is not giving exact results now a days.

Its one of the nice that you have shared I got few more way to detect links.

Repeat activities
  • Webmaster Promotion to the new content asset
  • Guest Blogging (to the new content asset) - target a portion of your guest blogging efforts towards building links and raising awareness for your new content asset. You can even rework some of the content and tailor to specific blogs to save time when it comes to writing the guest posts.
  • Guest Blogging - as before, this time targeting a new niche from your opportunities map.
  • Blogging - once again think ahead in terms of the content you produce, align with any plans you have on the horizon.

I've been using the trial of Market Samurai, and it seems good. However, I've also just installed SEO for Chrome, and some of my best backlinks are showing as no-follow in the Chrome plug-in. So I guess I'm still not a lot closer to knowing what is going on!

I have been using SEO Spyglass. Works 75% of the time, if a website has thousands of backlinks, the program tends to freeze, even on my brand new Macbook Pro.

It is true that there are many sites that made strongly claims regarding backlinks checking but only few of them are most reliable and I highly recommend to the SEO workers to keep the shared sites in mind as they are very useful and reliable....thanks to the author of Thread...
