Would adding a link directory lower PR/status?

Let's say I have a webmaster-centric forum in good standing with google.. good serps, good PR pages, etc... and added a link directory under the same domain name.

With so many outbound links that a directory would create, would that hurt the overall status of the main domain name?

In my opinion your site will not get hurt due to link directory. Having Link directory is not so bad all.
