Why has my page rank gone down?

I don't understand what exactly happened. My PR gone down from 4 to 3. We are running a web hosting site and i had made lot of ON page changes in last 2 months. Besides we are regularly building quality Dofollow backlinks.

Does over modification of ON page codes can lower down PR ?

Suggestions are welcome for improving page rank. Please suggest particularly ON page SEO.

The problem is you CARE about toolbar PR. My site's traffic tripled when the toolbar PR dropped from a 6 to a 4. Why, because "actual PR" only Google sees matters and toolbar PR does not. Besides this, "chasing" backlinks is a bad idea (FYI: there is no dofollow link attribute). Google loves organic backlinks, and the ways to get them is to create content that's worth linking to, as well as creating "link bait". Then they come naturally, and you rise in the SERP's.

Could be dude to a number of things such as losing relevant links over time or you could have increased the number of outbound links effectively diluting your PR

PR drop is not related to on-page actually. PR is related to quality links. You should have good quality backlinks to your website. Dofollow high quality links can give you link juice and pass some PR to your website. So try to get high quality Dofollow backlinks for your site.

Due to more changes can affect the site but it affect on page rank i dont have any idea about this. When you changes in your site very fast google noticed and considered that you are trying to promotion.

Quality Back Links are the only factor that will increase the page ranks. Nothing would change in PR if you do any changes in the text content on your websites.

If you want increase PR only, They you should work hard for link building + website content quality.

And never do anything wrong in frustration because Google Panda and Penguin watching you

It's the quality of links that points to your website that decreases it. I suggest you find more relevant and more quality links pointing to your site. make sure also to diversify your link profiles.
