Is submitting to a ton of article directories, bad?

Well I dont think that you will be penalized becuase I have seen other people also doing this and they are not penalized.

Tough question. But definitely I would not spend most of my time in submitting to tons of article directories. Still I believe to Content is king and gather quality links rather than links in article directories.Just my 2c.

Submitting to 8-10 works best for me, I usally end up with 100 links from the article being redistributed. I think the dupe content theory is a bit overblown, my same article show up all over the place in Google. I am starting to think that Google may expire an article link after a while 12-18months.

Thats a Gem.. because you should give yourself about 1-2 weeks before your articles to directories gets indexed and then you will post it on your site or blog in order not to get black-labelled.

But Also remember to submit your articles consistently in order to have a good habit of links and consistency. That means its alright to submit to 10 article directories at once but don't submit like 10 articles at once.
