WordPress URL naming for SEO

I am using a wordpress backend for a blog that is a portion of my overall site.

All my site contents are structured similar to site.com/cat-toys.html and site.com/cat-food.html. However my WordPress section which I call 'news' ends up being site.com/wordpress/blog/blog1.html.

How can I make that long URL be site.com/cat-news.html for SEO reasons and site presentation reasons?

Do you know how to use PermaLinks? It should be in your Options Menu in your Admin CP

go to admin panel your wp and chose options and click Permalinks

select Custom, specify below and

Custom structure: /%postname%.html

change it like that

no, here is the Permalink I use on Modern SEO News:
/%category%/%postname%

There is no .html at the end

you must add .html manually and delete /%category% if you want

This is easy, just go to Options -> Permalinks.
Then from the best SEO purpose, chose the structure
/%postname%/ - nothing else.
If your .htaccess file is writable, WP changes it automatically, but if it isn’t so then WP will provide you some mod_rewrite rules you should have in your .htaccess file. Select it and paste it in your .htaccess file and your link structure will change!
