To sum up the video: The key factor is adding your unique content, if all you do is quote that is "spammy" but if you add your unique content that is OK.

This video comment should go a long way towards explaining why we (here at V7) require quoted content to be marked as such and why we require attribution. It is also why copy and paste posts are removed.

Nice post Mr. Snake.

What about news sites that buy most of their content from the associated press?

Do sites like yahoo get a penalty for buying articles?

I went to yahoo, picked an article "Stuck Staten Island residents ask local leaders for rescue", went to google, did a search (with the quotes), and 304 results came back.

A lot of those results linked back to yahoo.

So did any of the 303 sites that copied part of yahoos article get a penalty?

it means the content in the quote is considered as something like nofollow, will it harm forums?? as the basic replies depend upon quotes

That's a great share. Here's my share about duplicate content and different languages old article but still reliable source.

Google’s Matt Cutts Talks Duplicate Content And Different Languages

Quote:
Will multilingual translations of one [piece of] content across different websites attract [a] duplicate content penalty?

“The simple answer is no,” he says.
“The same content in English is different than the same content in French. So, if you had identical content in English, and then in English again, in theory, that’s duplicate content, and we might only want to return one copy of the English content. But if you have English here and French here, it’s really quite different.”
Cheers....
