How to get High PR backlinks
I own a poker affiliate site and I want to put this in for unique content. I just wrote it tonight, any thoughts?
Getting High PR Back Links
Kyle Healey
Let’s face it there is a certain way you need to approach high quality sites
when asking for a link exchange. This is important all the time, but especially
important when you are a new site with a low or 0 PR. PR stands for Google
page rank. It represents how popular your page is viewed by Google. When
you get back links to your website from high quality websites with a high
Page Rank, some of that PR is transferred to your website. The more high PR
websites that link to your site the higher your PR likely will be, and in turn,
the better off your website. Now we will go over a few tips on how to attain
high traffic, high PR back links for free in the very competitive poker industry.
1. This is the most important rule – Have a site worth linking to. Create your
poker website with pride, poker affiliating can be the best job in the world, so
put your maximum effort into the look and feel of your website. Create
unique content, clearly state what your website is about, and have a clean
layout where users will find it “friendly” to surf. All of these factors can
increase the chance a more authoritative site will link to yours. The first rule
is closely linked to the second, something that will automatically get your link
request trashed.
2. Never expect a link to a “banner farm” website. If all your poker website
includes is a bunch of banners to various online poker rooms forget it. You
may get link trades with other banner farms but they are doing you very little
good. You need links from respected, high traffic and quality poker websites
to increase your own targeted poker traffic and search engine ranking. I
guarantee you that 99% of webmasters won’t even get back to you if you
are running a banner farm. It goes back to the number one rule “Have a Site
Worth Linking too” – a respected webmaster is not going to hurt his/her
rankings in the SERP’s by linking to a “bad neighborhood” when you have very
little to offer them.
3. Have a clean and clear Resources Page – a) never have more than 40 – 50
back links on one page – the fewer the better. Make it look nice and clean,
and clearly describe each website using the anchor text and description they
provide. Make the font sizes easily readable and space each entry apart to
maintain the clean look. Finally, place a link to the resources page from your
homepage in a place that is easy to see. Name it something like “Useful
resources” or “Partners”, but never “Links” or “Link Exchange”. After all, you
should only be linking to useful quality sites.
4. How to find the best link partners – This is easy. Simply go to Google and
type in all of your intended keywords and industry related keywords one by
one. Contact the top 20 sites in every listing returned. If they have a
contact form especially intended for back link requests use it, otherwise use
the approach below.
5. The Approach a) if you can help it, don’t say Hello “webmaster” – if their
personal name is somewhere on the site, find it and use it. This is very
important as some busy webmasters chuck out every e-mail entitled “Dear
webmaster”.
b) Show them where you have already linked to them.
Never write to a website saying you will link to them if they link to you. You
will get little to 0 replies like this. Take the initiative and place their web link
on a links page like we described earlier in this article.
c) Be polite – As obvious as this is, many webmasters
do not follow it. Always end your e-mail with something like Sincerely, or
Yours Truly followed by your FULL NAME. It helps if you use your real name
too, poker affiliates are intelligent people we can smell a fake American name
when we see one.
d) Make it personal – Compliment something unique
about this particular site that “caught your eye”. It will help if it is something
you found 2 or 3 pages deep in the website. This will show the webmaster
that you have actually took the time to look over the site you are asking for
a link exchange and may actually flatter them – both increasing your chance
at getting a back link.
e) Do it right and Move On – Don’t be afraid to ask every
High quality poker site for an exchange – Do it right, move on , and forget
about it – You can check back in a month or so and remove any links from
your website that didn’t link you back if you want – although if they are good
resources for your web users you may want to leave them anyway. Getting
link exchanges is a numbers game, and surely the more requests you make,
the more positive replies you will receive.
Using the above tips, your link request success % is sure to go up.
Don’t get discouraged, and always remember how important the links you
receive are.
