What is the difference between a home page and an inside page link?

What is the difference between getting a home page link or an inside page link?

A home page link, generally speaking, links to your home page. An inside page link, in 99.9% of the time, links to an inside page.

I apologize for not being clear,

If someone links to me from his home page which is a PR 6. Is it better or worse then getting a link from an inside page which is a PR 6. and why?

In my experience it's very important to have a good number of deeplinks.

But still ... I didn't mean deep links I meant...

If www.spss.com (PR7) links directly to my site from their homepage

is it better then getting a link from http://www.oracle.com/database/index.html which is an inside page on the oracle website that also has a PR7?

(You can see I work in the tech sector)

I prefer home page links - or at least a link from the webpage with the most external links.

Well that depends on the number of outbound links that have on the webpage... If the home page has 10 outbound links and an inner page has only yours then definitely the inner page will pass more weightage to your website.
