Question UK site - UK inbound links? Does it matter?

Is there a difference in how a .UK site will rank in Google UK if the bulk of the links into the UK site are .com? Does it matter? Or is it better to have other .UKs linking to your UK site.

Any thoughts?

Best - DEL

I think UK domains that link to UK domain will hold a little bit higher weight than COM domain. That's why google likes relevant sites, so does it relevant domains. It shouldn't be having so much affection to your rankings though it can help.

How about a ".de" site linking into a ".co.uk"? I am developing a site that is .de and will be written totally in German. Is it worth putting the usual "website design by ..." onto the site? And if so should it be written in German or English!

Paul_F, if your site is fully in German it wouldn't be so cool to get links from english sites, just because of relevancy of links. The best thing would be to get link from .de sites or maybe .com which are also fully written in German.

For my travel blog - cos I have more links from sites hosted in the US, it ranks better on .com than .co.uk, which in comparison my business website, most of the links are from sites served on UK servers, so rank better in co.uk
