hey rosejoans

its true that google gives more impact to niche domain compare to TLD ..

but it is not that now a days google is giving rank loosing to niche domains ..

not at all your ranking in SERP depends on 200 factors and domain is also one of them so it's not exact true dear ..

hope you will get your doubt clear

.com is the most popular extension, why would it have lower ranking?

Practically, .com has higher ranking compared to other extensions.

There is no connection between site ranks and ".com" domains, don't take rumors as seriously. Sites rank totally depends upon SEO activities.

Why did you think of that? If all .com sites loose their rankings then there must be someone who gains ranking also. Which sites are those according to you- .edu, gov or some ghosts?

Google could not do this unless Google find something bad content and bad activity on your domain than only it will reduce page rank.

Google do not spam anyway. .com domain is the good domain if you use your doain like spam than only it can happen with any domain.

the extension of your site has absolutely no effect over the site rank! many stories also argue over the worth of a .org or .edu links.its false.
page ranks and extensions are two worlds apart!

It's obviously impossible. The rank is up to the content of your site.

I really don't get your post.. It's like you say: Facebook will lose his users because it's on a .com domain. A website loses his ranking if ONLY the webmaster had done anything wrong like Link blasting or BLACK SEO... He will NOT lose ranking for NO reason!

i think he is bit right and also wrong

right because now days google have started making countries sites like co.uk .pk .ca like this and in those site as i am in uk i mostly get sites on top which are co.uk so google prefer countries related sites more in in there own countries. because google thinks that he is provided users with related content ,so of course related content for each countries user will be from site which are specially made for those countries.

someone said about facebook, its a top 1 website so do not compare that with the basic websites, type "maxx sports" in google.com and see a .com site is on top but type the same keyword "maxx sports" in google,co.uk you will notice that a co.uk site is on top
.com sites are going down for these reasons
hope this answered your question
