There has been a slight update in the last 24 hours. A couple of our websites have moved up considerably more from where they've been stuck at the past few weeks.

Google updates all the time. I have seen at times where I ranked different at the start of the day than I did at the end of the day.

Its nice to have a very senior member among us. Can you throw some light on personalised searches made by google. Becoz as per my calculatuions It is surely going to hurt my search engine positions. What do you think ...??

What do you mean by personalised searches? I was talking about changes happening in Googles SERPs. They update those all the time.

Thumbs up I think i can make you clear now ....

What exactly i mean by Personalised searches was like this.

Google gets signed in anytime u login to gmail, orkut or other services of google.

Now what i exactly meant was when we search in Google with and without logged in, entering the keywords, There is a hell lot of difference.

Without signed in it shows something that must appear according to its algorithm.

Signed in searches are called personalised searches. In this case google adds a parameter, "what the person searching prefers most" (This may be which site he/she accesed most). This is a new theory implemented by google, having an idea that Keywords are not same to all. Let me give an example. Keyword "Maths" to a mathematician is different to a sports personal. That is what google trying to implement.

Now if this happens there will be a hell lot difference in searches and we may have a loss of traffic or may have a gain too.

I liked to have some comments from you senior members.

I think i was quiet gettable.

And thanks in advance.

I have never looked much into personalized searches. I think the majority of people searching the web are just going to go to Google and enter the search phrase in the field. I focus on making my sites show for those searches.

I have a feeling Google was testing out the personalised search feature even
when you are not signed in.
They appeared to do something with cookies but only in I.E.
Not long ago I was seeing something very strange and initialy thought it was
case related, but after a few tests came to the conclusion it was cookie
related and personal search related.
Even though I wasn't signed on, Google appeared to know it was me when I
was searching and was returning my pages in favourable positions.
I tested again using Opera and FF but couldn't replicate what was happening.
Have a read here and see the screenshots for more about this,

Yup !! sim64 is right.

But on the beta phase they hve all allready implemented the signed up case. Now being a pro you know that the google is trying to make personalised searches and so you logout after using any Google service. But since the 80% of the traffic are unaware of this fact.

What i wanted to say was we will have a loss of traffic and not proffessional traffic.

As sim64 said google is trying to implement this for everyone using some cookies and all that. Its still on the beta phase. You may be clearing cookies from time to time but what about the normal user. Some of them even don't know where these cookies are and what are they so to stop them is totally impossible.

Now i think you can find why i was so annoyed and tensed about this P.S. implemented by google ??
