I recently found about this software named Web Position Gold and they call it the best software that helps a lot in achieving high positions in search engines.I downloaded the trial version and it seems pretty good...does anyone have any comments about this program?Shall I use it?Any suggestions for improving the results?

I have never used it. You are probably far better off optimizing websites by learning from forums on the net.

Web Position Gold has been around for a very long time. I'm surprised you just heard about it. It has always had mixed reviews. It's original forte was automatically making doorway pages crammed with keywords.

It also has a auto submit feature which most people now believe is completely unnecessary if not harmful. There is some wisdom in the documentation, but nothing you can't pick up by carefully reading the various forums as sem4u suggested.

What is your site about? Have you submitted it to WebSite Review so that people can give you their opinions.

There is no software that is going to get you high in the ranking if a lot of other things aren't right. You can probably get a lot of help here but you need to give us more information.

If Web Position Gold could do the job we would all own it and we would all be #1.

Hi.
Well, before I tell you about what my website is about, etc etc,I wanna tell you that my last website's been a complete failure in the last month. Therefore I've decided to redesign the whole thing.I know about quite some of the reasons the website was a failure in other things like making profits, etc, but I can't figure out why I didn't get high search engine ranking.
Here's my website:

http://www.virustimes.cjb.net

I know I should've bought myself a domain, but I didn't do that.I've bough myself a domain now and I'm using a proper host. Therefore you don't need telling me that.I also know that the pop ups that website brings up are far too annoying, and I've overcome that too.I know that the design of the website wasn't good either, and I'm redesigning it as a result. However:

-I did have professional content in the website.

-I put the keywords as close to the top of the page as possible.

-I put the keywords in the Title Tag

-I put the keywords when making links.

-I used a sitemap that linked to all of my pages with the keywords in the links.

-I used the keywords as much as possible in the pages.

-I used the keywords in the ALT tags.

But still,I got high ranking in only one of my keywords. What do you think were my mistakes? And what shall I do to overcome them?

Hi Ali.. sorry I have been very very busy this week with my clients. On the note of using web-position gold, here is a direct copy from the Google WebMaster Submission Policy FAQ

Quote:
Don't use unauthorized computer programs to submit pages, check rankings, etc. Such programs consume computing resources and violate our terms of service. Google does not recommend the use of products such as WebPosition Gold™ that send automatic or programmatic queries to Google.
Translation, dont use WebPosition Gold. You dont need to submit sites to Google anyways. But you especially do not want to do it using a program that google has actually taken the time to NAME in their FAQ.

As for why or why not you may not be doing well it depends on the term. The most important part of getting a high ranking is OFF SITE factors on terms that are very popular.

A page that has 0 onsite content and 100 good backlinks will rank higher then a page with piles of good onpage content and no backlinks.

Hope this helps.

Ali, my best recommendation for you is to worry about having a better design - the old site simply doesn't invite people to explore it. 5 years ago it may not have been such an issue, but these days visitors tend to expect some from of presentation on websites. That means some kind of design concept and style. At the moment your site looks composed in Word 97. And on that vein - if your conetnt is good - other people should be happy to link back to it. After all, viruses is something anyone on the net might have a general interest in.

Then when the new design is up, do some Content SEO on it - the various featuers you mentioned before.

After that - build up your links - lots of links - wherever you can. It's not easy - it takes time, but persevere.

I guess I'll start doing so right away....Just a last bit of advice, the last articles and reports I have on my website are not really optimized for the keywords I'm going to target this time. The last time I didn't know a lot about targeting the right keywords and I targeted quite some wrong keywords.Anyway...shall i still keep the articles from my last website or shall I redesign the website completely?

It's really just the presentation that could help. Your main aim is to get a lot of backlinks to your site. Although you can do a lot of that yourself, by having good content (and that should preferably include a basically aesthetic design) then over time you can potentially accrue backlinks where people have stopped, looked, and generally pointed links to it for reference. At the moment I don't stop and look because the site is so basic. But if I did, you can be sure that I might look to bookmark it for virus information, or else post the link about forums for referencing virus issues. That's how you use good content to gain backlinks. And there are plenty of decent templates about, some of which are either free or pretty cheap. Of course, you could simply forget any new design concept and merely try and get lots of backlinks for yourself anyway.
