does amazon have higher weighted pages?

Say you do a search for "Weber 22 1/2-Inch One-Touch Gold Charcoal Grill"
or many other products, amazon is always #1.. Would it be an outragous goal to surpass amazon for keywords such as this? Even though their page for this paticular keyword has 0 link backs.

Its totally possible to surpass Amazon. Amazon can be out ranked especially on specific product searches. They do carry a lot of weight in most shopping industries but here is one of prolly 1000's of examples of Amazon being stuck at #2 - example

---- Heres another example I usually maintain at #1 but it looks like Amazon just surpassed us here within the last week or so -

example 2 of being beatin' by Amazon -

I find it amazing when every once in a while the algo will change in Google and Amazon will appear in the top 3 out of no where in a category I've ranked well in for years.

Almost any website can be surpassed for any search phrase. As long as the search engines feel your site will be more valuable to searchers for a given search phrase then your site will come out on top.

The reason why such websites as Amazon and Shopping.com appear at the top of serps is that the keyterms you enter are brand names and are so specific and these items are already available on these websites.

Also due to the fact that these shopping centers are refreshed several times a day in search engines, well, search engines will first search for results in their cached pages and then will come to other individual websites.

Suppose a new Ipod model is available out there right now, well, Amazon will be the first website to list it, right? And so will be the first website cached for that item.
