Basically just post a medium-sized post explaining your link building strategy over the past few years and what helped you the most! (John doesn't have a Link Development sub-category like DP )

Organic Linking by having a unique site and getting people talking about it!

Paid Ads (which are indexed by Google):

All these are some easy ways to get good one way links! You never know when a forum page becomes a PR4 and usually posting here and there can get your member page a PR4 eventually too! (vBulletin has it's "View Public Profile" Link in the HTML Code so Google indexes it)!

Well the one thing I might have to dissagree with is using sites like link-vault.com as Google now sees them as potential spam and I am sure that in the next update sites will really get nailed for using them.

Just to add a small part, exchanging links with some related and specially old websites should never be forgotten.
