For YouTube video rankings, you can do so rank your videos within minutes (if targeting long tailed keywords) all you have to do is get your video fully YouTube optimized by having all the information which would let Google determine your video content. Such as:
Title of the video?
Description of your video? (make it textually rich and unique)
Keywords
External links (that compliment your video)
Text Caption (don't forget to speak about the keywords you are targeting)
Just do this properly and your YouTube videos will be ranked first page within minutes. And YouTube apart from the rest is the best because most use it more than others.
Now, if the above strategies does not get you first position rankings (that would mostly likely mean that you are going for highly competitive keywords, if so

Then, you can be a little smarter about ranking highly competitive keywords (and all your video ranking efforts are worth it, because of the amount of traffic you will get from them) and here's how you can do just that.

First: let your video stay around for a week, then attend to some back-link gathering for the video itself, do so slowly (meaning perhaps allow a month to get it all place) and you surely do not need hundreds of back-links (just few from the right places)

Second: you can in fact give out few $$ ($10 or $20 bucks should do the trick) and advertise your videos in Google Adwords to get more views (because YouTube video rankings do take views, comments, engagement and likes for the video in to consideration when ranking in YouTube) but once again, you would only need these in place for highly competitive keywords) because the long tailed keywords are easy to rank as shown above, but highly competitive keywords do deserve bit of marketing and return on investment will be worth it. I hope this helps video rankings of v7n.com community members video marketing (in fact we are certain that it will)
