Competition Links

Linking to a direct competitor should provide a good link for your site(keywords etc.). But likewise 'your helping the competition'.

I know its better to have incoming links from related businesses and its better that they do not compete.

But.....Yes or No.....should you link with a direct competitor?

I would never do such a thing.

I check their backlinks and submit my link to everyone who has linked to them.

It is probably not a good idea to exchange links with your direct competitors. Unless they are already near the top of the search engine results, you will be enhancing their link popularity and also introducing a potential customer to a direct rival.

There are plenty of other sites to get links from. I would never link to a direct competitor.

Pretty much what I thought. But I have never seen this question asked directly before.

I too think that it's better to study the websites that your competitor has been partnering with in link building and ask them for the links and forget about the direct link deals with your competitors.
