Question Blog Commenting for Link-Building

Hello All,

Earn backlinks from “blog commenting” is helpful and effective in 2014 link-building strategies? Or try to do something else?

Regards,
-TA

Hello..
There are many more effective ways.

Here are the flaws with blog commenting...
Most blogs are end to end convo, so to just reply with a link/anchor can be seen as spam.. and difficult to get approval.
Some blogs arent "do follow"
Blogs have to be relevant to your market...

This guy has great tips.. have a read! http://backlinko.com/17-untapped-backlink-sources

Now it is too difficult to get links on good quality blog because most of the blogs are now nofollow and hardly 20% bloggers approve comment with anchor text.

As per my knowledge, Blog Commenting is the best methods of Link building process. It is gaining quality backlinks to our website. Mainly it contains two types of links do-follow link and no-follow link. But in blog commenting do-follow is more helpful as compared to no-follow link.

Blogs are still a good sources of links but you can not rely on them as it may turn to nofollow anytime. Also now a days, most of the blogs are nofollow.

So it is effective way but still needs lots of hard work to find as most of blog comment list available on internet are not reliable.

This is why I don't have that many blog comments on my blog. I don't approve the ones who use a keyword for there username and link drop in the blog comment. In fact, the link always has nothing to do with the blog post topic and easy to tell the person is there for a backlink and not into the blog topic.

It is also good if you find blog posts to comment about your website. If there is one thing that google likes more than content it must be relevant content.

Snakeair is right, blogs aren't the place to spam your links unless your guestposting, that's like going on to someone's facebook and posting "Look at My website, (persons name) loves my sight about big butt's and visited, you should too." I think most people would unfriend you pretty fast, so why would it be ok on someone's blog

Here's an idea to consider for all v7n members:

Most modern website's now days in 2014 will allow you to comment using your social profile account to login and post comments. For example, Twitter, FB, Google+ or even specific comment systems such as Disqus etc. And we all know that relevant website's which has a popular blog with comments enables will often be in direct competition with your niche and will hardly approve comments that have keyword specific anchor text. Not only that, it actually requires time to read the blog post, and then comment your thoughts and ideas on it (especially when, often times the website owner is like a little child protecting his/her toy thinking that if they approve your comment, that's a negative thing etc (personally, that is a retarded way on internet (because regardless of the blog we are talking about, there are thousands if not millions of others online, so thus, those who protect their comments with all their might are the ones who are actually losing when they disapprove comments left right and centre). Proof?

Just look at those popular blog networks in your industry, the most popular ones are the ones who have lots of comments because that is what Google does, follow people.

So back to the idea to get the most out of your commenting giving them a better chance of approval and also for signalling Google search engine, and that is, sign up for free commenting system account like Disqus, and you can use your naked URL. For example: we use "rankyacomau" or "rankyacom" when we comment on relevant blog posts or articles, and this gives the best outcome of approval and also for Google rankings. Surely if you could get keyword rich anchor that would be better, but when you weigh up the time and approval/disapproval of your comments, getting backlinks along these lines are better than not getting them.

I agree with you Snakeair. I'm sure you're also sick of those generic comments that people are leaving like "thanks for sharing", "awesome post" and many more.
They're so easy to identify.

Even if the comment is insightful or relevant to the topic? Still you won't consider?

first of all it is very difficult to search for dofollow blogs. If you have a list anyway then it will be very difficult to convince someone to approve your comment. It effective but i don't like it.

I see.. how about those that are linked in facebook or twitter account? I bet some commenting systems have that option, right? It is not direct though.
