I would suggest you to go for PPC ads. Because PPC would bring you immediate traffic whereas organic linking will take time to bring trafficl

With a few exceptions ( ) all the above is good advice
With regards the seo keyword research is a must - it's no good ranking for a phrase nobody will use!
Also ensure that all your site pages are not aiming to rank for exactly the same keywords/phrase - choose different but appropriate phrases and you should stand in better stead to capture traffic as you are catering for different searches/searchers

Organic linking does take time. But the impact is, I think, more sustained. If the site you're talking about is the TVMilk site, I'd start by making friends with the "TV Shows on DVD" review site, which doesn't sell but reviews them - major portal with a large built in audience. Try searching for permutations of the question "Where can I find XXX on DVD?" for forums where you can step in and offer your product as a solution. If you're advertising, pick targeted sites like the one above, others like televisionwithoutpity.com - popular niche sites.

WRONG APPROACH !
When looking at keywords/phrases it's not necessarily just what you think is a good one - it should be relevant and feature within your page yes, but you shouldn't 'estimate' take a look at any research tool and find whether the phrase is actually used by searchers - your keyword/phrase needs to be being used

Agreed. Deciding what your clients should want, instead of looking at what they actually want, is a common marketing error.

Thanks Jojo, It helps. I'm not really good a keyword research as the only tool I know how to use if wordtracker. Do you have a suggestion on doing a proper preparation before actually submitting to directories ?
I appreciate a simple step-by-step advice on how to go about this. Any comments is highly valued!

Best way to increase traffic is :
Writing articles - use article submission software to submit those articles.
Blog Promotion - use Rss submitter to submit to Rss and Blog sites.
Site submission - submit your website to directories

Vern, you may find this article about submitting to directories useful.
The thing is, there are other things you can do besides using software to spam the sites. If you produce quality content, you can offer it in exchange for links to topical sites. This should get you direct traffic and links as well.
