SEO for New Websites

Hi All,

I have launched my first website and learning everything. I see SEO can help my website rank and get traffic but anything I have found assumes you already have a presence online.

What tips can you share with me that will be great for my new blog.

- Find your business’ common search terms - I don't run a business.
- Put those terms to good use -
- Claim your Google listing - I have no psychical address for my website.
- Keep your content fresh - How fresh is fresh? Its an information based website and history can't be changed. rewording it all the time would be a hassel and pointless IMO.
- Hire a professional SEO - I would like to learn myself.

You can do SEO by yourself. First of all you need to have a unique and quality content then just add your link to other sites by keyword you want to rank on search engines.

The thing about unique high quality, I see many what I would say low quality websites etc with spelling mistakes and grammer issues still rank. Also how many links to rank? The term i want people to search is not a competitive term according to research tools but most of the national newspapers rank for it

Hey Alis Tips,

Check out this post I made on here a few days ago. It covers some good practices that still work today, and some that no longer work (but are strangely still being recommended here).

Best of luck!

By fresh I guess he meant to say certain periodicity between a post and the other. If you are to publish new material once a day, keep that pace. If you are to publish new material once a month, keep that pace.

To learn SEO by yourself I advise against starting from Internet forums or blogs. Go for books such as "SEO one hour a day", and read that first. Then you can come to the Internet to update.

The core of SEO, in case it is useful for you, still remains the same:

1. Make a technically correct and efficient website.
2. Publish articles (or videos or pictures) which give a good answer to a searcher's query.

It is not "just that", but it may help you get focused in what you want to achieve.

It is very hard to give specific tips for your blog until I am not familiar with your blog subject and not visit. So sharing general tips:
1. Follow search engine guidelines for websites. Some guidelines are shared here: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/35769
2. Make it easy for search engines to index your website and make easy for visitors to navigate on each page of the site without any hassle.

Get some SEO knowledge like how to choose keywords, how to optimize website. You don't need to hire SEO expert if you're willing to learn new things.
Very important thing is consequence so if you decide to write every week - keep on that. The more quality posts you write the higher you can rank your website (of course for carefully chosen keywords). What works for me is to check keyword typing it in google search like this:
"your keyword"
Below of search results you will see number of results with particular keyword. If it's around 10.000-20.000 that's good sign.

Unique and quality article is key. Do not use DUPLICATE content.

Do local listing if your website is based on local business.
Engage with social media facebook, twitter etc
Blog posting do not do link spamming, try to place back link technically.
Directory submission to good authority directory with good variation of title and description.
Q&A

Those are key

Submit website in google webmaster tool to detect error quickly.

Another thing for a new website. Check website loading speed. It must load quickly. Also optimize website with good link structure so search engines understand the website.

For new website..it is recommended to use some paid marketing under the budget. Try to improve your visibility on social platforms...Understand users interest about your website via marketing efforts... and if you see any positive results then simply follow that strategy forwards...rewards will come gradually..

First of all , you need quality content on your website to be posted daily or on a consistent basis. You also need to get quality backlinks and promote your website on social media. Most importantly , you need to put in work and not let go if results do not show up immediately.

You should do basic things like, quality content, meta tags, proper image utilization, internal linking through the entire site, site speed, sitemaps, etc.
