Site Restructure - can I do 600 301 redirects in a .htaccess?

Hi, we have an old site with about 600 pages and we are doing a new backend with a new structure using php and better URLs.

Should we do 600 301 redirects in the .htaccess?

what do you recommend?

I think that depends on the "move", if all your pages are still going to be there, 600 redirects would work best. If not, or the structure is going to be much different you can use htaccess to redirect all the old files to a single page in the layout (one entry if all of your old pages are in on old directory that isn't going to be used anymore).

Awesome thx, they are all going to just new URLs but the same pages pretty much, design changes and added info but just wanted to make sure that 600 in the .htaccess file wouldn't cause a problem, how long would i need to leave those entries in?
