Yes, john... You are correct... and what i feel is that when you have some "money" in your pockets then you can go that way... but if you dont have that much to invest in the PPC or other form of advertising then...

Well from my experience..i suggest every forum takes time to grow... it wont happen in a day or two... well... "rome was not built in a day"...

Being in a college i have my friends... who help me with building a small community... well and with the power of SEO in hand that makes things really exciting... people multiply themselves... isnt it...

So for a start.. make a group of people... be they your friends.. family...etc... ask them to be a part... then gradually it becomes healthier and healthier...

There have been some huge launches in the IM world recently - StomperNet, Affiliate Project X and some others I can't remember. Oh, the Death Of AdSense guy did pretty well too.

By doing lots of teaser material before the launch, partnering up with other high profile IMers with big opt-in lists it was possible to create a huge awareness before the launch, just as the subway adverts do.

Some webmasters do not make for good marketers. Unfortunately often times it's the same person coding the html as promoting a site. I have the burden of doing everything myself which means certain things don't get done properly. I do manage though and have lots of experience. Other however just flop everything they do.

I can take any site and get 1000 uniques per day within 6 months for just about any category. It just takes the right dedication and pushing.

A site should always be promoting itself...not just at launch.

Hey... just as some marketers do not make good webmasters...

As has been said there has been some superb lauches of late... but I do think its all got a bit so so... you know.. they all out to top each other.. but hey, great to watch and learn..still getting a bit ridiculous..

But NOTHING I feel will create a bizz like Jon Reeses did.. it set the tone yet did it VERY well.

It was an inspiring set up.. and I watched it happen, as with the others mentioned..

I like to learn from watching what they DO rather than what they SAY..

Great stuff... I did a launch with some help to raise £2000 in five days.. not earth shattering... but you wanna see how THAT feels.. watching your inbox go crazy..like a sale every twenty mins.. it WAS a GREAT feeling to have.. and It was great that the aim was met.. thats was my goal to get out of the shit I was being forced through.. £2500 was the end result.. so £500 a day... a bit better than some days carving I have had..

Anyway, great topic.. John.. think you will ever do another launch and go BIG..
