Google and Yahoo sitemaps (my own experience)
Recently I did one test with Yahoo and Google sitemaps and I would like to share my experience with others. I think it is interesting for other webmasters.

I have a website that contains 4 pages. 3 pages are crosslinked together and one page doesn’t have any links at all. Two weeks ago I have submitted my sitemap to Yahoo site explorer and to Google sitemaps (aka Webmaster Tools). All pages where listed within my sitemap. Today Yahoo’s site command shows all 4 pages and Google’s site command shows only 3 of them.

Conclusions are after you

Great for stats but if your pages are all linked to eachother anyway I don't see any reason to have a sitemap.

One page doesn't have links at all. And the difference is that Yahoo shows it in its index, Google doesn't.

In my humble opinion it is virutally impossible to make any serious conclusions based on one site of four pages, over a couple of weeks.

Actually, my site is old enough (google bot visits it frequently and it has PR5). I think that two weeks is essentially enough to see onsite changes in SE.

I'm going to observe it for a few weeks in anything changes. If anything will change I'll let you know.

Sitemaps are really recommended for websites with many web pages. Some talk about thousands of pages.

Having a sitewide sitemap with links to major web pages can help for smaller websites.
