As vangogh said, you can be #1 for a non-competitive phrase as long as your page is included in the index. This depends on the number of incoming links you have. That's as easy.

From my experience, I can say that 5-12 hours is enough, mostly. A high traffic site will do it even faster.

However, I don't see a point in clocking the time to get indexed. Quality is what matters

Not to mention you need to optimize your site for the humans anyway.

Well..!! Acc. to me Google Search Engine is so dumb if a person knows how it works and we can easily fool Google Search Engine.

I made it to page 1 in the Precharge projectnet seo contest in a week

I also made it to #6 for seo book in just 8 days seobook.org.uk currently #7

I am more inclined to think that SEO contests are about site networks you have to manipulate the link weight. The larger the network, the easier it is for you to win.

netsearch, you were #5 for seo book earlier, right?

Blazed is the dumbness of Google the reason I can't find the first link in your sig in their results for your domain?

Getting to the top of the resutls for an seo contest quickly isn't the most difficult feat given that the keywords won't have much competition at the start. Being there at the end will be more impressive, but even then the keywords aren't going to be so competitive.

I agree with A.N. Onym that a strong network already in place can help you win an seo contest without much effort.

Ya I am number 7 now I moved some of the links to the seo contest sites.

I got as high as #4 before moving the links Didn't get much traffic got a few seo job offers.

I think I could beat them if I pointed all my seo contest links at it in the correct way

I going to try after all the seo contests end in febuary

Maybe I'll write a book

Smaller network of powerfull links are better then very large link networks of very weak links
The more powerful the network the better Larger is not better.
The precharge contest start months ago I started on it last week.
Not one of the stronger contest.

Absolutely. All links are not equal. A handful of high quality links will go a lot further than many, many more low quality links.

But I think that's part of the idea of how a network can help you. If you've built a strong network over time with authoritative sites in that network then even just a few links from those sites can help you win an SEO contest easily enough. If someone else doesn't have those high quality contacts the amount of links they might need to compete with you may be impossible to get over the length of time of the contest.
