By doing link building you can get back links. But the backlink is nofollow or dofollow, its only depend on the site from where you're getting links/backlinks. Some website provide dofollow links or some provide nofollow backlinks. So first your need to analysis the status of backlinks then you can proceed. But its not necessary that if the site if offering nofollow links then it would be useless, if the site is relevant to your niche or having quality content then there is no issue with the backlinks from that site either its nofollow or dofollow. Focus on quality not quantity.

Guest posting has been a big help for me in getting high quality back links. Whatever your niche is, try to find guest posting/blogging opportunities.

Don't just go for do follow links but get no follow as well.

Keep it natural and you should be fine.

I think guest blogging and blog commenting is the best way to gain backlinks. And yes maintain a healthy relation between follow and no follow links

Most of the blog comments are no-follow anyway.. but there are some that provide do-follow ones..

And one more thing: The answer to the above poll is NONE. None of them is the most effective...

There are also blogs that have "comment Luv" which means that when you comment, you latest post on your blog with "do follow" backlink will be added.

Are blogs still using this feature still worth it to submit to? I always prefer post a comment with my homepage link attached to my profile and or use my logo image or real picture as my gravatar image these days.

I wonder if I should do a case study for myself about this old school backlinking method.

Not quality. It's better to care about best content on your website.

Just write quality blog posts on your own blog. If it's good enough, people will link to it on there own for free natural backlinks.

There are two things I am sure about when it comes to creating timely content (i.e. content based on current*hot trends or newsworthy content):

1. It’s highly efficient when it comes to traffic and social media shares (sometimes on-page*engagement*too). I’ve been working for some major online outlets that have been flourishing thanks to news coverage.

In my experience, evergreen and how-to content drives more references, trust and loyalty. While newsworthy articles drive regular traffic spikes that are easier to monetize (those are usually new visitors who are better ad-clickers).

I 100% agree with your viewpoint Snakeair. If we craft the in-depth content in an excellent manner, co-bloggers would like to link our blog posts, and it will look natural in the eyes of search engines. They are called contextual backlinks and they matter a lot.

Contributing the helpful blog posts in same niche blog would also help in this matter.

I prefer these 2 key ways to get dofollow links for my blogs.

Right from commentluv boys (BTW the blog owner has to have bought the premium version for this to work):

Quote:
Fine grain control over dofollow links

Prevent fly-by commenters who are only after a dofollow link by setting advanced rules.

You can set it so they need to have at least x number of comments or they socially shared the post or registered to your site.

Reward only the people that matter most to your blog and that's the repeat visitor and those that are proven to leave good quality comments.

No guarantees with that advice. In fact it could be neutral effect or even a negative result.

Firstly, domains don't rank - pages do. Secondly, if you are referring to PageRank, no one knows what a given page's PageRank is these days, and it's been that way for a while.

You are aware that manual manipulation of Google's algo, by using effort to obtain links can work against you, right?

You are aware that most legit social platforms and their users are more aware of spammers than ever before, right?
