I would never recommend anyone to do link exchange. It won't help you any more. It was considered a good SEO off page activity in the old days but today these techniques won't work any more and even hurt your ranking

If done judiciously, and for reasons only pertaining to boosting/sharing traffic, it can still work. And, it won't hurt ranking.

If done purely for ranking purposes - it will only end up in an epic fail.

Absolute rubbish (quickly becoming my most used phrase on V7N!)

Ive heard some stuff on here but this is up there with the title of "worst advice 2017".

I don't know where you've got this idea from, or even if you just made it up to sound knowledgable, but just consider this. The op now goes out and exchanges links with sites, gets a google penalty, he loses his business and then his family go hungry. All because somebody wanted to sound clever!

Do everyone a favour and don't give advice on a subject you obviously know nothing about. Rant over...

Link exchange is one of the worst ideas to follow today. I might have worked in the past, but not anymore. Google latest algorithm update, especially penguin phase 2 is smart enough to sniff out link exchanges, link farming etc.

You really should read a few posts in a thread before posting your own ramblings. Because if you had read the thread from the beginning, you would realize that mass link exchanges (or even random ones) are epic fails. And, judicious use of said effort, could actually bring in qualified traffic without fear of being Google-slapped. Sheesh!

I would never recommend anyone to do link exchange. Because google says excessive link exchanges, could “negatively impact your site’s ranking in search results.”

The key word here is "excessive".

To say, never do a link exchange because it will impact site/page rankings, is like saying, don't drive to the supermarket to get food because you might crash the car. Yes, if you drive recklessly, don't obey the speed limits, signs, or generally disregard the "rules of the road", there's a good chance something negative will happen.

However, a few judiciously derived exchanges for traffic purposes will never hurt you.

I don't think it will be a good idea to exchange links in today's scenario, it used to work years ago but now your website might get penalized by Google for exchanging links.

Try to build back links from some good quality website by contributing quality content and knowledge. I wouldn't advise you to take short cuts such as link exchange.

Link exchanging is good if you are exchanging links according to your site niche.

proof?

suppose (just suppose) you exchange links with google.com - will it hurt you?

the main question is - what is Domain Rating of the domain you do link exchange with. if it is high enough (by enough i mean at least higher then yours) - then why not?

or am I not right?

Exchanging links for the purpose of manipulating SERPs will only come back to haunt those that try. Exchanging links judiciously...

Link Schemes:
