Sig links a question...

I have heard that sig links have little wieght... but then so does salt...lets say you have 31,191 grains of salt the wieght would increase alot.

Or like John Scott Posts: 31,191 and climbing... Here is my question..

If John launched a new website and put that site in his sig targeting a certain keyword phrase lets say ( Baby Buggy Bumpers ) as a link would he do well on search engines for that ( Baby Buggy Bumpers ) keyword phrase or be penalized for to many back links to fast?

well links in signatures are good but they alone are not going to give you good rankings for competitive keywords because the source of all the links would be the same.

Thank you I dont count on sigs to get where I want to be with my targeted keyword phrase there are to many other means... As my sig phrase is in top 10 on all search engines... Was just wonder if you can get in trouble for having to many back links to fast...

If John does it, it would probably work.

If you did it, I doubt it. Just kidding... I think if you or anyone was going to try this technique you described above they would be subject to the sandbox just like everyone else.

Unless its a word without many results.

It would take a long time to mount up 30k in sig links. Prolly wouldn't get penalized if you did it gradually.

Well you woudn't get in trouble but your rankings will put on hold for sometime.
