301 redirect almost passes 90% link juice still no one can guarentee about it. however rank will be remain unchanged hence traffic.

Put proper 301 permanent redirects in place (nothing else is acceptable) redirecting all visitors to the https version. The search engines will learn that the site has moved over to https over time and update their index.

If you are able to contact the site owner of any backlinks you have ask them to update your url.

Directory submissions you should be able to update yourself.

301 redirect will work and moving to https will have positive impact on serps because https ranks better then its http counterpart i have read that in seomoz blog.

You might face traffic issue in beginning but https will give a positive impression in user's mind and they will trust you for payment and this will later on make good impression on your site.

Absolutely, the best sample is you can check the top3 ranking in a niche market, most of them use HTTPS.

I was able to finally do this with my site. It does not affect SEO. All past http urls are automatically redirected to https. If you have previously create backlinks using your site's http url, that would not be a problem. It would be good for SEO to upgrade to a more secured ssl site.

Yes, it might affect your site in a short term but in a longer term, it is going to be beneficial for you.

Google is showing not secure in front of those sites with plain http and a big chunk of websites ranking on Google has https on it.

So, it is recommended to have one and you are playing a smart move.
