Optimizing for Forum Instead of Root Homepage

Hey folks
I have been wondering what implications i am going to have down the line because I want to improve the ranking of my forum much more than the ranking of my main site with articles.

I was thinking about working on my backlinks and sending the links to the forum (example.com/forum) instead of the homepage.

What do you guys think about this? It just seems like some quirky things might happen, but I care much more about the forum getting ranked than the homepage.

No issues there. V7N gets much more linkage to the forum than the home page. Sometimes I wonder if people even know that we have a home page.

well if you are looking to get your forum rank high or make it of high quality then you need to get lots of Back links and should make it of high quality.

Yup each website directory is sort of a webpage by itself. So what you would do for your home page can also be applied.

Actually I believe that if you deeplink to your forum, it will be better than if you link to your mainpage.

Anyways, if you worry about PR, having good PRs in your internal pages, they will flow back to your main page (this is of course assuming that you have links to your main page on every internal page).
