Yes in Directory submission you can build strongest links. According to me directory links are the strongest links then other submission but check directory Alexa rank & dofollow.

I would not really waste time on directories. They are just sites full of links and little to no value. Maybe if you find a directory specially for your niche that get traffic and is used actually by people other then the ones that submit, then submit to it.

Is Directory submission still working?

I appreciate your question, Directory submission is like an old technology and it has one major drawback. They won't allow for an instant approval and it takes 3 to 4 months for approve. but, once it gets approved it generate enormous amount of traffic for the website. Most of the companies use to do directory submission for desired back link.

So, no approvals in 3 weeks or two months? Only after 3-4 months?

If it is still working, can you please explain why Google is targeting those sorts of links via their penguin algorithm?

Agreed on this. I use a free tool to search what directories a business is listed on and what it isn't listed on (from Moz or YP) and add the listings myself. This is one of the first link-building activities I take care of (get it out of the way).

Yes, Directory Submission is working not but, helps to improve Rankings as well as traffic. Just You will Get Link is only the thing will happen with Directory Submissions. So Try with another process.

Instead of wasting time on directory submission that takes more time and less result better focus on Web2.0 Submission where you can share your content with the link to reach more audience with help of social media websites.

Details and examples would be much better help than just stating "do this".

Web directory submission is no more a good backlink building method as Google regards it to be invalid traffic and may also affect your Adsense earning

Generally speaking, probably. More specifically, as long as you have done due diligence, it can actually help with traffic and maybe a slight PR increase depending on the condition of the backlink.

Ah, that would be false. The backlinks may be negative or at best "neutral", but there's no issue about the resulting traffic being invalid. Where do you guys get this stuff??

So if that is the case, then perhaps you could explain why Google is targeting those exact sorts of links to penalize a site for with its Penguin algorithm?
