How to change wordpress theme without losing content?

How do I change my current WordPress theme without losing my customization?
I have done quite a few changes in my header.php and function.php files and in other files too. I don't want to lose them if I change my WordPress theme. Please, someone, suggest a method.
P.s- I know how to create a child theme.

Make a new folder on your computer for the new theme and add your customization.

Considering you have Wordpress tutorials in your signature why are you asking?

By adding customization, you mean to copy/paste customized data from the current theme and add it to the new theme?

I write about things which I know about and learned of. And WordPress tutorials are one of them. And yes, I am not an expert in WordPress. Still learning.

First create a backup file and download it. Then upload the new theme. you follow the steps to upload new theme :-
Go to My Sites → Themes in any site's dashboard or the Theme Showcase.
Click on the three dots to the right of the theme's name and then click on Activate.

Hi Dear, This is the simple question. Before any changes you must always backup your website. It will be better you can try it at local server. otherwise you can consult with web development company also.
