Hello every i noticed that alexa updated in last 2 or 3 days. I just see some sites alexa ranking changed and other details. Is am right tell me.

Alexa rank is not updated for more than 2 weeks. Just checked it, the speed is still very slow and got no results.

the alexa you see is the average traffic over the last 3 months. So its always changing.

I read that it gets it's information from it's toolbar! Prone to abuse and manipulation.

This is a good question. I don't. But my SEO efforts are focused on the users and then on the SE. As far as I am concerned Alexa just shows statistics, it's of no real use for me.

I know that Alexa not much use by Seo's but it only that kind of search engine where we can openly get information of any site traffic.

Hmm, do note however, the stats that they do display is not that accurate, as vangogh has highlighted

Though I must say I quite fond of using their stats just to see my sites get compared to others

I agree with Vangogh, Alexa is completly innacurate. They should either make some effort to provide accuracy or remove their fault estimation traffic ranking.

By the way, we are December 3, the data provided end november 30.

If you don't see any Alexa ranking it's probably just too high for them to list one. There's probably very little data for them to use to give you a ranking.

Just some more info on Alexa. As I'm typing I notice that this forum's rank is 1814. Now no offense to John and I know this is a heavily trafficked forum, but I'd be willing to bet it's not the 1814th most visited site on the web. And I think John would agree.

You can also look at several popular seo and webmaster related sites and check some of their numbers. I think SEOmo shows an Alexa rank under 900. It's a great site, but I'm certain I could come up with a list of 900 more visited sites.

The reason for the good ranking is that visitors to v7n and SEOmoz are more likely to have an Alexa toolbar installed and thus skew the data. Webmasters and SEOs will more typically have the toolbar installed and we also tend to visit webmaster and SEO related sites so those sites get an artificial boost in Alexa rank.

Alexa updated ranking for first 100000 websites everyday, however for rest of websites it could take from weeks to months
