I think they do, but are not a major contributing factor.

It`s not PR6/25,000,you can see this category for example"SEO Forum" have PR6 for the first page and PR4 for second ...ect .Actually I saw some old threads here have PR4
It will be more useful if forums using mod-rewrite hack, like v7n

Is there anybody who has increased his/her PR solely by using forum signatures? And secondly, Atom, if you're suddenly put a signature on all yourr countless posts, won't Google ban you for excessive link-building?

I don't know. I think that they would look very foolish if they did though, don't you?
I suppose I could slap one up and see. How long do you think I would need to leave it to find out?

It would probably be indexed within a day or two considering the activity of this forum and your post count. but I have no idea how long it would take to find ALL of them...

What I meant was, how long do you think I would need to leave it to find out if they consider this a bannable offense.

honestly I don't think they would ban it. All of them from one site? I don't think it would happen. But I've never had a site banned so I can't be for sure.
However, one of my sites has 19,000 pages indexed in Yahoo, maybe I'll test it with a sitewide there to one of my newer domains... hehe.

I agree...
and while forum sigs contribute to bringing in traffic, they can't increase a site's PR alone.
seophobia... that's new... how'd you get it, Atom?

Hmm .. I don't know. I have seo block pretty bad. It's sorta like before I learned how to turn a computer on 4 years ago, I actually feared what I didn't understand, so I avoided it.
I also believe that I may have apostrophobia. Fear of incorrect apostrophy usage.

The nice thing about siggy is that you can change on command.
Lock and Load - rapid fire link upgrades.
Enjoy the fireworks.

IMO, it is impossible to increase PR solely because of forum sigs.
there are a lot more factors to consider for this.

Ewww, no.
I believe link age is an important factor - old links are worth more. You should avoid changing your old established links because of this.
But to add to the conversation, nobody has yet mentioned clickthrough traffic from sig links?
If you say something useful in a forum, people will often follow your sig and have a look at what else you have to say. I get a fair amount of traffic from this.
Some forums are better than others for PR juice - this forum is good, but most default installs of PHPBB etc don't get indexed well because of session IDs and bad URLs.

I was listening to what Jinger Jarret had to say about SEO and once you have established a plan and work it really work it - it should work and you would be an SEO advanced student in a short time.
But then again, I have felt that your sigs in forums does help your traffic rank a little just not much but unless you place highly targetted keywords they should help.
Just like the analogy of article marketing.
