lmao!!! This thread is funny...

How about your own server logs on your own server ? There is NO tool that can track your server, not even Google. The tool must have direct access to your raw server logs in order to obtain true traffic.

Further to what Ord said,
You can install AwStats on your server. it might even be available for installation via you hosting control panel.

Anything that uses JavaScript (like Google Analytics) only counts those who visit the site with scripting enabled in their browser. i.e. if I visit sites with FF NoScript stops client side scripts from running unless I allow them.

Google Analytics is the best tool you need to look at.

In case you're also working in one of the Russian speaking markets (i.e. Russia, Belarus, Ukraine), you may also look at Yandex Metrica.

In regards to your opening thread, in addition to what other members have stated about using Google Analytics, another free, and often forgotten, unpaid tool is Bing Webmaster Tools.
It's free, easy to use and gives you another angle to see how your website is viewed.

I REALLY didn't think anyone could bring useful information to this thread that is both good and actually relevant to the question that did't know. But here we are. I was wrong good sir.

I like these members that say "try this" or "you should use this" but never explain any details on how or why anyone should follow their fluffy advice. I personally, don't need the explanation, but others might appreciate it.

No wonder so many of the senior members have left the building.
