Google slower to index
Has anyone else noticed that Google indexes new sites slower than it did 3 or 4 years ago?
My first site, which I started about 5 years ago, was indexed by google very quickly and its SERPS were updated every day in Google, but I have started a few sites since then, and it seems that both MSN and Yahoo update alot more often than Google.

i also experienced that with our site... some of the pages were too long to be index.. well, all i did was to continue to build back links and wait for it to be indexed.

No doubt that my new pages take longer to appear in Google than in MSN or Yahoo.
That kinda irritates me too since Googlebot camps out on my sites every day. I guess Googelbot probaby just flags new pages, and then some other Google process(s) occur later that actually do the indexing.

This is not new. Google is slower because it like the new websites to "age" - usually 3-4 months. It might index pages fast if there are enough powerful links pointing to them, but the rankings will come slower. Getting indexed doesn't imply getting automatically rankings for some keywords.

Are you asking about indexing or ranking? Two different things. Google now takes certain aging factors into consideration so it can take your pages longer to show up in search results.
For me though I find my sites getting indexed quicker now by Google than they used to, but that probably has more to do with the experience I've gained in building sites that make it easy for spiders to get around and also how to get Google's attention in the first place.

It's pretty random for me. Sometimes Google picks me up faster than MSN or Yahoo. Sometimes it's last, sometimes it's in the middle. I think my backlinks plays the largest role.

Google indexed my new site in 3 days, but took 1 month to index another modified site with 2 years old.
I don't think google will take the age into measurements for indexing, maybe it's a factor in ranking.

What google's sdeed indexed does depend on? Do you know. I think that it depends on incoming links and site sructure.

It still depends on the quality of inbound links. One good PR5 or many PR3/4 will be more than enough as long as the page count is low. The more pages you have the more backlinks (PR) you will need.

I have noticed that Google has only been updating it's index every 5-6 days over the past few weeks. In the past it was 2 days max for a heavily linked site. It's a lot more difficult to track things for me now.

They are making changes. Google tries new search algorithms and I suppose they'll go personalized.
To CoralRain: not all blogs are indexed very fast, but you are right. It takes between 24 hours and two weeks for some. The secret? Feeds. RSS.

and that could be what's going on. My blogs do index very fast, but I just checked one of my corporatep ages I added a few months ago... and it's still not indexed for whatever reason. Now that's ONE page on a PR5 site that MSN and Yahoo HAVE indexed.

I find google a bit slower too, but I think the main change came when they did the so called Bigdaddy update earlier this year. With regards to the others I find that Msn seems to operate in a cycle and updates SERPS every 12-16 days.

Yahoo and MSN indexed fast.. while Google takes some time. but i think it also depends on the back links of the page that we want to indexed. I noticed that the pages which I used as my sig link on forums was indexed faster

Millions of site being indexed by Google so it is normal for Google to be slow. The crawler of Google uses an algorithm to index sites better than other SEs so it is advisable to build backlinks for your site while it is indexed by Google.

If you want to get indexed fast get some links on sites that are spidered frequently. The reason links from blogs seem to work faster is because they are often spidered more often as they change frequently.
Also many blogs will automatically send out pings when they've been updated which brings spiders back to the site quickly.
But links in your forum sig should get spidered often as forums, especially popular ones, are crawled often.
