How come http://www.slabesteurgent.ro ia way behind http://www.slabeste-inteligent in SERPs ? the first site has more backlinks, recently I`ve added more text on the page, and a new design , but the site doesn`t seem to be gaining any advantage out of that. http://www.slabeste-inteligent has fewer backlinks, not a really great design and less text on the pages, still is on the first pages for some keywords.

Can anyone give me some advices ?

Nobody knows Search Engine algoritm. Backlinks aren't the main point of SEO

There's a lot of things that factor into SERP position. You may have 1000 IBL's, but a similar site with merely 100 IBL's that are more relvant and higher quality might rank better than your site. Simply having a link doesn't push you to the top of the SERP's, the quality of that link is a huge factor, more so than the quantity. By quality, I mean:

• Relevance of the linking sites content to yours
• title, header, and other important tag text on the linking site
• anchor text in you link on the linking site
• PR of the linking site(arguable)
• number of OBL's on the linking site(less is better)
• Your proximatey to the top of the page on the linking site
• etc...

Is the content quality of the site from where the link is going taken into account?
I think you should not only increase the number of incoming links, but work on the content side as well, update it regularly. Have you analysed the way your competitor does it?

i agree with them.. there are many factors to consider, not just the link. but also its relevancy and the content of your site.

How old are the sites? Sometimes google likes sites to "age" prior to allowing them climb higher in the SERPs. It takes time to see results after a SEO campaign. On the other hand if your inbound links say all the same thing (have the same anchor text) Google will not really recognize them as valuable and will ignore them. I suppose you've already noticed that google shows a lower nr. of links compared with Yahoo or MSN. Same anchor text is one of the reasons. The title of a link is micro-content. And as Google doesn't like duplicate content, it is pretty important that you have a linking strategy where you change the anchor texts often enough.

You say one website has more backlinks than the other but are the search engines registering this. For example if you type linkOMAIN in google you will see your backlinks. Maybe the pages your backlinks are on aren't updated in the index as yet. But then again backlinks aren't everything.
