How many links can I place in my home page?
Will anybody care to reveal me how many outbound links can I place in my home page? Presently, I am having 66 links...Is it Ok? I am afraid my PR may get reduced in the ensuing updating process...

I think Google recommends no more than 100 OBL's on any page.

You have 66 out bound links on your homepage ?
And your trying to gain PR ?
Everybodys got their own recipe but I don't give outbound links on the homepage until I've got some PR to give. Usually I wait till a website has PR4 before I even consider placing an OBL on the homepage.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe that the links on your page effect your PR, that is unless you are linking to a "bad neighborhood".

Well you might be right about that...but I will just go with what google recommends, if they would bother even recommend it it has to play a role with how googlebot indexes your page i would think.

If you have sitewides, than ok.
But if you don't have sitewides why don't you make a good list of outbound links something like resources (on another page) and make a link bait

Thats only so that their spider do not have problem browsing the links on the site. Not they are justifying 100 OBL's on the homepage....

I agree with sizzler, 50 is the limit in my opinion.

Keep in mind that lots of links can overwhelm a visitor. I think over 50 links is going to make the page look more like your sitemap than your homepage.

Even 50 is a lot for users with disabilities. It really depends to do what you want to do with a site. If we think solely SE, then between 50-100 will do. But if we think users... I think we should keep the amount as low as possible.

Any ammount.
But, less links you have, bigger chance people will advertise on your site and pay more money.
I will suggest... 25.

Normally, every click from your homepage results in one less PR. So if your homepage is PR5, then top-level subpages should be PR4. I have found if you have too many links on the homepage, then subpages will receive PR-2 (ie will be PR3 instead of PR4). "too many" seems to be in the realms of 80 - 100 links, including both internal and external.
66 outbound links on a homepage is a lot anyway. Unless there is a good reason not to, I would nofollow those links.
