Where to get backlinks?

Can ya'll make any suggestions of some good sites that will give free backlinks, like top sites, directories, any site that will allow me to put a link up for free.

well i had a long list of various places over on seo-world, but a lot of good that does you now. I would say i would look it up for you as well but the site was saved on my old computer, which took a nose dive and there is no real way to get it back up at the moment

If by free you mean they don't want a link back then you are in trouble.

But if you are prepared to do a reciprocal link exchange there are lots of ways to find sites. One of the easiest is to search on you desired search term. And then do a "search within results" search for 'add URL'. All those sites have a page where you can add your link but they will demand a link back to themselves.

another great thing to do is look for a site like yours and do a backlink check on them, then e-mail those sites asking for a link and a lot of times you will steal their links. So you help yourself and hurt your competition all at the same time. It is one of the ways i built up SEO world. I stole quite a few links from SEO Chat and SEO Forums

There are programs out there that will automatically search for sites that "might" be relevant and also automate your reciprocal link submission to the webmasters of these sites. I use Arelis, and it has worked well for me. Another program alot of people seem to like is Zeus. Both of these programs can be a little pricey, but Arelis has been worth the cost for me.

I just constantly search for "keyword" directory, "keyword" directories "keyword" add url .....

DMOZ - best directory to get a link from - not least because there are so many other big and small directories using the DMOZ database for themselves. If your content justifies it, you can also make multiple link submissions.

Just like that and check it out.

It gives some interesting results
