SEO and Mobile Phones

I was wondering what do you all think about accessing the web with a PDA or mobile phone. Is this an issue that should worry us a little? I've been reading some articles on SEO for the mobile search lately and even tested my sites with http://www.google.com/xhtml ... I have to tell you they look messy! But back to the point of starting a thread: is this the future? Should we start worrying about optimizing for mobile phones? And how do we do this for a website that has, let's say... 1000 pages? Isn't that too much?

I guess it depends on how important your pda and mobile visitors are. I don't get enough traffic from these devices to warrant much change, but when I am building a site, I try to conform to the "standards" set forth by the W3C, which is basically just coding in XHTML and valid CSS.

I am not worried about the traffic from mobiles and PDAs now. It's not so much yet. But there are some predictions, that in three years more and more users will go mobile. And I am a bit worried.
