It just goes back to the quantity vs. quality debate. Some webmasters make their money from one mega-site, while others spread it out between many different web sites.

u need 1c/page / day building a mega site or 10k sites if you reach your goal it's the same thing.

BUT!

if you build a mega site u will be able to sell it and get some nice cash for it. For me is just ma matter of long/short term (i need money today or when i'll have grey hair) luck is involved also

Recomandations for 10k websites.
build where there is no competition or very little. You won't get much visitators but you will get without having to scream out loud *$#* (u get the idea.

blend the ads into the text and u'll need about 20 visits/day to get 1c
get some affilate program, from time to time you'll sell some stuff

use wordpress / don't ask me...ask google

Building less, but bigger, sites might be cheaper to implement just because of the domain name purchasing - not that that is a really big expense.

I agree with NothingButNet. If you want to build 100 web sites with say paying $9 upfront for each domain, you'll have to pay $900.

If your site really earn $0.20 a day, however, you are still in profit. But you must have a lot of time promoting since you have to promote 100 sites, not just one, to ensure your site really earn $0.20 a day and not less.

if you make 100 different sites you'll become more experienced because you'll face different challenges but it would be stressful.

There's some stsability in having a few different websites. At one time I put everything I had into one site.. Then it was bannded from yahoo.. not a big hit, but it taught me that diversification of SEO efforts are important. I am also beginning to think that it may be a good idea to always experiment with other monetization themes.. like different affiliate programs. etc..

It is possible.

You might be very very old when you achieve 100 websites.

Maybe quality is more important than quantity.

if you wanna build 100 websites you need 90$. create subdomins and don't link them to one another. 10 subdomains/domain + the main domain should do the trick.

don't go and spend all your money. think really cheap cause you won't get much from this a few cents/day from each and they will never be in top 10 best sites...you build 100 remember?

you will need to promote them and this will be the hard part but one by one till they are all gone

I heard someday about the rule of the average. if we build 100 web sites the result will be more profitable because of multiple income streams

For example if you are an affiliate of Nike, you'll search a lot of information, articles, comments about Nike and start a forum of course later.

this step can be repeated N times using some self made tool.

Nice idea...The person who owns 100 blogs is geting much more income than a person with a single big site of 2000 pages.

It is nice not to have all your eggs in one basket. I only wanted one site but it sounds alot better having a backup if something goes wrong.

-you get banned from search engines

-you get sued and have to take your site down

-the servers explode and you cant reupload your backup for some reason

-your site loses popularity in search engines

I've always been a quality versus quantity person.
Think about the trust you can build with one really good site with a lot of link strength - if you then want to create pages within that site for long tail search terms it is much easier to get them to rank. Just look at wikipedia - lots of there pages without inbound links rank really well because the site as a whole has a great amount of trust, the same goes for About.com.
