how do you guys feel about bloggin, and seo. I mean can you actually make money from blogs, if you blog everyday, like good money around 75-100 bucks a day?

Popular blogs can make a lot of money, if they have enough traffic that is...
Check www.seomoz.org, they had a stats analysis of major blogs, it could give you an idea...

Yes you can... I think there are several people here in the blogging forum that are making around $1000.00 a month.

I'm not one of them... I make about $20 a day.

Adsense isn't the only way to make money from a blog or website though. You know you can sell advertising space to manufacturers, sell text link ads to other webmasters, you could use chitika or Patrick Gavin's TLA. There is a lot of money to be made from selling products for advertisers from commission junction or other affiliate programs.

Yep blogs provide god earnings if you mix your sources. For example putting adsense in your posts and putting an optional aff link in posts that you can. Also the sidebar provides for some good earnings if you know what your user base likes. For example for a seo blog an amazon widget with some seo books handpicked by you might get you some cash.

Making that much money from a blog alone would require a fair amount of traffic and some very good paying partners. AdSense alone wouldn't do it, IMO.

I think that you could do that much with relevant affiliate programs, though. Like, the V7N Affiliate program. Some of our affiliates do earn several hundred per week. But just because their traffic is very targeted.

You could make just as much money with a blog as you can with a website, I would think. The important thing is marketing and what products/services you are offering.

Then, if we talk about making money, why is the initial question blogging and SEO? I mean, I know SEO is important for the success of a website (or blog, or forum) but making money with blogs is a different story. Maybe someone should provide a list of affiliate programs and other money making tools for blogs?

Hi there tdd,

I think that rising above the fray to make this kind of money requires an excellent concept, a built-in following somehow to get you jump started, excellent writing skills in terms of understanding your audience and what they are looking for.

There are some bloggers who have done really, really well. I would call them "first-movers". Being there first does have an extraordinary advantage.

There are tens of thousands of blogs out there so it does take a certain amount of ingenuity/creativity to compete successful for the ad dollar. My brief experiences so far with www.links.com underscores for me the substantial time/material/money investment that it takes to earn money blogging.

Here is what Matt Cutts had to say in his blog today:

"Over the last 18 months or so, being a webmaster myself and writing a blog has taught me a lot. I understand more of the issues that site owners run into, and I sympathize with the frustrations of running a site."

However, blogging is certainly worth a try if you have a passion to write. If you have a passion for money, I think that it is tough, but doable depending upon your own talents. Its like anything in life, there is lots of competition and few slots at the top.

I was thinking about starting a blog but Im still deciding what topic I wanna hit. I just started a directory though and its almost a full time job babysitting my forum and upgrading it from time to time.

It just feels like I am doing what everyone else is doing, pretty much everyone on here owns a directory and a blog. I dont see myself being successful with it because its liek Myspace now, everyones got a blog.

The big advantage of blogs is the potential traffic that they can get. It needs to be updated regularly though.

However I think that you can make as much money with a website if you have the same amount of traffc.
