Question Too much Content?

Is it possible that you can have too much content on a single webpage that it will actually hurt your rankings? What if you topic or idea got lost in the mass of content. Is this possible or just a crazy thought?

It's better to have the content on each web page naturally related. In other words, if you're dealing with several different products or several different concepts, standard SEO practice would be to deal with them on separate pages, each with a suitable title and h1. Having a lot of content on a page won't hurt your rankings per se, butyou'll get better (and more) rankings by categorizing it in a logical way. This is likely to please human readers as well as the search engines.

Nope not really just depends on the content. If you can write an article about life and it happens to contain 1 million words, and I imagine it should, well go ahead. But like jefferson said if it's on different subjects it's not a good idea.

Thank You

I usually try to keep text around 750 words per page. Its seems to be enough to keep the SEs happy and its not too much that noone will read it.

If you have 1000's of words on the page it better be very compelling or noone will read it.

I have read somewhere that it is better to keep pages under 1000 words. I don't think you'll have that problem in your site though.
Just add some H1 tags, bold some keywords within the articles, and get lots of inbounds links with anchor tags

for me, TOO much content is not also good, for your readers or visitors can get bored with the TOO much things written at your site.

just make a content relevant to your site or relevant to what are you talking about. avoid discussing unrelated things.

its good to have more content, as search engines like them especially if the front page is always refreshed

Too much content can hurt the page. Many people suggest 300 to 500 words for SEs, though this is debatable. As SEs try to build semantics into their bots, it is good to build content naturally. Let the subject decide the length. For humans, a text too long will result in boredom.

I don't agree with that. It all depends on the niche. For commercial sites I guess people get bored if there's too much text but for information that people are looking for there is no such thing as too much information. Also not for the search engines. One of the most read pages on one of my sites is an article that could easily be spread to four pages, which I didn't to test this issue.

I agree with Ferre's idea. For business you need some attractive words and looks that will attract visitors at a glance
