example: your profile in ezinearticles.com have a page rank=0, link to your website is PR=0, but if your profile have a page rank=3 or 4 the link to your website from your porfile to your website is 3 or 4.
the most important to submit your article not just the link but to get traffic , the more you submit , the more you have a chance to drive traffic to your website. but pay attention to submit all your article at the same time.

Strongly agree, promote your own articles also, build some links from another sites to your article. I know some profi... they can increase their article Pageranks to pr5-6 when other articles pr1-2.

I promote websites, i can tell that i picked customer to promote his 177 000 thousand pages website only because he read my article - went on my website - called me.
As for me, i am immigrant and i can't write really good articles on english. But people who can write really good articles, can increase their traffics.
Moreover, most article websites share articles and if article is good, it can spread around WWW. Other webmasters copy them and add as content. Your link can appear naturally in many places.

I have been writing and doing submission for quite sometime now for my clients and I can tell you that most of the sites allow multiple linkbacks from the author's resource box and atleast 3 linkbacks on the body of the article. So practically, you get multiple linkbacks from them. But not all of them allow the same. Those are just few!

Another very important feature of article submission is the rules the directories have. While webmasters are looking all over the place for FREE & Quick relevant contents for their sites, they must display the particular article in its originality i.e. with all links intact. So if you submit a really quality article to 50 sites ( I don't advice over doing it) it will be hot cake on the net and soon spread all over the net--this giving you links indirectly.

The benefit of article is to have a good backlink and probably achieved the high page rank. The content of the article must be with quality , unique and not duplicate with the other.
