Maybe I am putting too much in to how easy it was to get a top 5 listing for seo book 8 days after register but we will see I think I could beat him with a lot of work.
I am still there with my sucky test web site how come google hasn't figured out it sucks http://www.seobook.com/archives/002005.shtml
What other web site has he got listed?
May be I should read his book?

I think the person who is ranked 1 for "porn" is a great seo, and anyone else who has top rankings for major terms that make them millions a year.
People on that list talk a lot of seo and some make a lot of money from it but why are none of them great enough to rank for anything major themselves?

I have heard of Danny and Matt. The others don't seem familiar. I probably just need to get out more.

Actually, top 10 SEOs are all almost unknown to us. Guys that promote porn, viagra, gambling sites to the top positions. Guys that make millions with thousands of MFAs. We don't know their names, but they have certainly more professional merit than many on the list.
BTW, how about Kelly Felix (aka Rich Jerk)?
PS. And of course, I stand as a modest #10 in the true list. (Joking!)

Put anyone on that position within Google and they'll have the same access to the knowledge that Matt displays and will be regarded as "experts". Sure, he knows the filters and algorithms better than anyone else but that isn't because he's such a good SEO expert, anyone could do that, given the access that he has.

Ferre, You are on target with this, If I had the same access as Matt Cutts, My name would be on that list also. or anyone else

Cash in
Aaron I challenge you I am the leader in the SEO world Championship come over and beat me.
If you don't I will come over and beat you for SEO book www.seobook.org.uk
Hey should I be on this list?

You're ridiculous. Ever heard of a freshness boost? Aka honeymoon period? Your site is going to plummet after the initial boost is over. Some people open their mouths and reveal how foolish they are.

Good call.
Ok.
My ten list would definitely include these 8 (in no particular order): - Danny Sullivan - for helping to get SEO's together and promote the industry more than anything else
- Bruce Clay - Legends have it that he coined the term "Search Engine Optimization"
- Rand Fishkin - the "Open Source" SEO
- Aaron Wall - he wrote the book on SEO

- John Scott - dubbed the "AntiSEO", yet he has some of the most sound SEO advice, and interacts with "the people"
- Todd Malicoat - aka "stuntdubl"
- Eric Ward - "Link Moses" - one of the earliest experts on link building
- Jim Boykin - the master of link ninjas
I have to say though, that any kind of list like this is going to be subjective (to an extent) because different SEO's will have influenced each of us differently.

I think im going to buy Aaron Walls book.
As for Guy K. i personally wouldn't consider him great at internet marketing... anyone who has millions of books with their website addy on it will have a pretty decent traffic. IMHO.
