MSN Ranking

Any one know why my website would be ranked #3 for a strong competitive keyword out of the middle no where, then boom its gone? Just getting some ideas, and feedback cause this was totally wierd.

It's not unusual to see a page rank well out of nowhere and then disappear. I think it happens more on MSN, at least it seems to for me.

It's probably that they tested something new in the algorithm, which like your page a lot for the keyword and then made some more tweaks to the change or pulled it back and went back to how things were before.

I think when I first launched my site MSN would rank a page or two of my site for some very competitive terms for a day and then just as quickly my page was gone.

Vangogh is right. This happens in all the engines quite often. Many times it occurs around the time of updates. I know it can be frustrating to see this happen, but unfortunately this happens more than many people know.

Indeed. I have experienced it some times with Google as well. If a ranking stays a couple (or more) of months, I start believing it

Well time really is the only true way you are going to know your ranking in regards to MSN or Google. It isn't the stock market

You are right about that. It takes time and patience to see your site grow and gain popularity and alot of hard work.

This things are not unusual. One day you could be the fifth in any top but i the next day you can be out of there. It's enoying to see this thing but you know that in everyday the position of every site is modify.

Well staying there at the top needs some regular link building at regular intervals.

it was odd, boom I'm up there for like one of the strongest keywords, then gone. put it this way if i could up stayed up there for that keyword i could of been making probably 150 dollars a day off ad sense, but its gone, not even in the top 100, i must of the algo right on the spot or something.

Well I'm in the process of redesigning, and modifying word presses blog to go with my current site theme, and i will be blogging at least for 2 hours a day, so hopefully this will build pages, and draw more traffic.

I have about 3k to invest into high quality directories, and am going to put a forum system on my website, mainly I will be targeting seo, but programming

Same thing happenned to me. I've noticed that MSN flucuates more than Yahoo or Google. I also suspect that MSN weighs fresh links more.
