Recommended tips to get forum community started

What would be some tips on starting a forum on my site, should I just wait until my traffic picks up? Then put a forum on my site, which right now im in the process of bloggin for at least 4 hours a day, and got some money to invest into quality directories.

Ohh yea Jhon Scott I know your reading this lol, but wanted to tell you that I love your forum community I was thinking of that today when i was at the store lol sounds funny, but its a great place. It is like a great neighborhood.

Even though this might not be the busiet one, but it still the better one okay blah blah give me some forum tips guys, i know there is some gurus out there.

I dont have experience yet but i chose to open a forum supporting a site having thousands of daily visitors. (Not public yet, still working on it)

And i chose to have a seprate domain for the forum since my previous experience for integrating a forum software to an existing CMS was very bad: gives more trouble and why i should not have another domain having high pr!

I am using vbulletin + vbseo since vbulletin is said to be superior to free alternatives and previously url-rewriting helped me a lot.

If you check back through all my posts you will pretty much find most of what Ive discovered starting a forum. I would hardly call myself a "success" in any way but the first rule is that forums are sorta a machine that creates itself. First thing is you gotta get posters through any means neccesassry. After you get a community started it will grow itself because everyone wants to post at a forum with lots of members. Posters will create content that gets spidered by search engines and will basically be making a site with thousands of pages for you.

Your going to really have to think outside the box when starting out though to get that first 500 members.
