What tools do you use for search engine position tracking ?

Do you have some for tracking rankings on local search ?

I think this is an area that could be more well developed and could be a good opportunity for someone. WebPosition Gold does some of this, but if someone came up with a good web based solution, I bet they could make some good money at this.

i doesnt use SE position tracking. but i track incoming keyword. which keywords bring traffic. i usually use statcounter.com, lots of statistical information provided in graphical format. nice!

I don't need checker, I need tracking tool with some graphical view of fluctuations.

DigitalPoint's keyword tracker is a free, online system that uses the Google API (you need to register a for a free Google API key) and the Yahoo & MSN complementary systems to pull search results (so it doesn't break their TOS). It is great for tracking your own sites, but wouldn't work for a consultant trying to track numerous client sites.

Are you using a country specific version of Google when you check manually? Personalized search?

The DP tool uses the Google API, so it's possible that the results are slightly different from the live results, but I've never noticed a major difference.

Then again, the results could be in flux when you are checking.

use seo tools, once you get good enough you won't even use tools, I haven't used them for ever I might use google adwords for keyword analyzation, but other then that use some good serp tools.

i use google webmasters tools.
it shows query stats and position of keyword of our site in SE search results.

I've been using this tool since 2004 and it definately helps when you're explaining to clients ~ how their SE visability is increasing. The bar graphs are rad, and easy to understand.
