I don't think this is true, but will getting lower quality links hurt you rankings? I find this hard to believe, but who knows. hehe v7n rocks.

sorry for being a noob here... but when you say lower quality links, does it mean a link coming for a site where it has a lower PR than your site?

if that's the case, i don't think it will harm your rankings... but still, it would be better for you to get high quality links for your site

PR 0 links are very good links to have if they are based along the same theme as your own site.

I wouldn't put too much emphasis on the quality of the link but more on the theme and making sure it is similar to yours..

Yep, Relevancy is more important. Low PR links are also good. But if you are saying...links from FFA site or link farms then I think It can hurt spoiling the image of site in google eye.

No, no kind of one-way links will hurt your site. Even if you spam the internet with links to your site, it won't matter to you site.
If it would, than all people would have done that to kill competition.

they just don't add much to your linkstrength, but they do help if the text surronding them is relevent to your keywords

Yes, I agree with this too that lower quality links would not hurt your site rankings. But these links are good links to have if they are theme based links and are from quality websites also.

Hmmm, what do you mean by rankings? SERP or PR? If in PR, well low quality backlinks would do nothing to your site's rank. As well in SERP

Well its not bad enough to have a PR 0 links initially if your site is new and just started the business. And definitely the PR of those links will increase in future. Google counts only the quality and not quantity of links. But if the site is new even those PR 0 links will do.

I think it has to do more with your link profile than any one particular link. If your link profile matches those of typically spammy sites (say, lots of guestbook spam) then you may have trouble ranking, particularly if your site doesn't have many authority links.
