Footer Links or Blogroll, Which Gives More Power?

I'm going to be adding a clients link to my blog soon. The clients website is semi related with many of the topics on my blog. The link will be pointing to creditable restaurant site that's been around for 5 or more years. It might be noteworthy to mention I plan on leaving the link on my website for several years to come.

Which do you think is better to get the most possible link mojo?

IMO, the blogroll would have more juice. You can send them some traffic while you're at it. Footer links would get a lot less traffic.

Footer, my reason is because the footer is on everypage, some blogs the blogroll isnt on every page.

If blogroll is sitewide, blogroll is better in my opinion since footer can be detected as spam but i dont think google will give penalty to all bloggers since blogroll is a common practice.

Blogroll should be better these days, given the shift of link weighting from the search engines.
